cleveland clinic submits plans for london hospital
Cleveland Clinic has submitted plans to Westminster City Council to operate a 205-bed private healthcare facility near Buckingham Palace.
If approved, the new development would be Cleveland Clinic’s first facility in London, adding another international location to a health system that includes a 165-acre main campus near downtown Cleveland, nine regional hospitals throughout Northeast Ohio, and facilities in Weston, Fla.; Las Vegas, Nev.; Toronto, Canada; and Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The application includes 205 beds and eight operating rooms in the six-story, 198,000-square-foot office building in central London. The facility will not include an emergency department.
“London offers a unique combination of world-leading medical research and some of the best and most respected healthcare professionals,” said Toby Cosgrove, M.D., President and CEO of Cleveland Clinic. “Our goal is to complement – not compete – with medical offerings available in the London market.”
