Kaiser tops rankings
Kaiser Permanente has been placed as having the top-ranked health plans in the USA in both Medicaid and Medicare, according to rankings released by U.S. News & World Report in its annual "America's Best Health Insurance Plans"
Kaiser Permanente Colorado was recognized as the No.1 ranked Medicare health plan in the country, while Kaiser Permanente Hawaii took the top spot in the Medicaid rankings.
Jed Weissbery MD, senior vice president, Quality and Care Delivery Excellence, Kaiser Permanente said “Our commitment to delivering exceptional quality care is equally evident in the commercial category as Kaiser Permanente showed improvement nearly across the board. Seven of our eight regions moved higher in the rankings, led by the Colorado Region, which is 13th (out of more than 230 plans ranked) after being 42nd in 2008. Two other Kaiser Permanente Regions made the top 50 commercial plans: Kaiser Permanente Northern California is ranked 32nd (48th in 2008) and Kaiser Permanente Northwest is 46th on the list (50th in 2008).
“Our leading scores in Medicare highlight the value of our integrated delivery system and Kaiser Permanente's unique ability to address the multiple health conditions of our elderly population.
These great scores reflect Kaiser Permanente's commitment to improving the quality of care we provide to our members and the communities we serve. They also underscore the importance of our investment in delivery system reforms in the areas of coordinated care and innovation."
